Chrome OS Beta Introduces Android Parallel Tasks
– a press release
“In the most recent beta release, Google has introduced ‘Android Parallel Tasks’ which will allow for multiple Android apps to run at once while remaining independent of one another.”
For Immediate Release – January 02, 2018
Muncie, Ind. – Google has attempted to shape Chrome OS into a household name for the past couple of years. Initially released in 2011, Chrome OS operates outside of the traditional mold for computer operating systems by heavily relying on the use of Android apps. In the most recent beta release, Google has introduced ‘Android Parallel Tasks’ which will allow for multiple Android apps to run at once while remaining independent of one another.
Chrome OS has always allowed users to have multiple programs open at one time, including native, Chrome OS and Android applications. However, Android apps typically pause when you click or tap out of their respective windows — causing delay and occasional loss in functionality for those that prefer multitasking.
Android Parallel Tasks allows apps to run in the background even when actively using another program. This updated feature should alleviate what has been a point of contention for many users. Android Parallel Tasks is currently undergoing beta testing and is anticipated to be a feature release for Chrome OS 64.
