Microsoft Tests SwiftKey on Windows 10

Muncie, Ind. – Microsoft’s SwiftKey keyboard allows users to “type with a swipe” and may soon be available on Windows 10. The smart keyboard utility, which has been popularized on iOS and Android devices, was acquired by Microsoft in early 2016. Microsoft released the first major update to the mobile product earlier this year and has now announced that the popular input method is being tested for touchscreen-enabled tablets, laptops, and desktops running Windows 10.
SwiftKey will be available in several languages, including English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian. The smart keyboard assistant allows one-handed typing and features autocorrect and predictive text. Users create words by sliding their finger over all of the necessary characters to complete a word, resulting in SwiftKey presenting the most popular words given a set of characters.
Microsoft is testing SwiftKey in its latest Windows 10 preview, codenamed Redstone 5. The new version of SwiftKey functions similar to the mobile device variant and also includes select updates, such as the upcoming Cloud Clipboard feature which promotes copying and pasting of data between devices logged in to SwiftKey.
