Windows 10 Timeline Now Available

Muncie, Ind. – As we quickly approach the new year, Microsoft’s aptly named ‘Timeline’ feature has begun rolling out for early adopters. Timeline, which was originally planned to ship in the Fall Creators Update, will allow users to sync applications across Windows 10 devices.

Timeline will let you effectively pick up where you left off if you are switching between machines. Thanks to Cortana integration, this will even extend to some Microsoft apps on iOS and Android. Designed to be a quick way to move from one platform to another, Microsoft’s newest feature mirrors Apple’s continuity feature in iOS and macOS.

Microsoft has experimented with similar features before. For example, you can currently resume Edge sessions across multiple Windows 10 devices, thanks to Cortana. However, the most appealing part of this new release is the promise of third-party applications. If app developers across all platforms get on board with Timeline or other synchronization efforts, it could be a large step toward seamless technology that is serviceable to all users.
